Frequently asked questions for DaisyNET (FAQ)

Checklist, if it is not working.

  1. Firmware check if a new version is available
  2. Rotary switch: Set Receiver to 0, if you have LInk-issues set it to 1
  3. Device-ID: All devices ned to have a unique ID. It is the best to do this before you do the installation on site.
  4. Allow adequate ventilation around the device.
  5. Status of the LEDs at the HDBaseT-connector: The green Link-LED need to be lit permanently, as soon as two DaisyNET-devices are connected. The orange Activity-LED needs to flash steadily, as soon as a device is powered up, no matter if a second device is linked or not.
  6. The typ of the used CAT-cables, the plug and the rest of the infrastruckture plays a big role. please have a look to „Which cable for HD-BaseT should I use?
  7. If you are using a external power supply, eventualy a  variable one (e.q. DIN-Rail power supply), please be sure that is delivers a minimum open-circuit voltage of at least 5,15 V. Otherwise is can happen that the output-voltage can be quickly reduced under load below 5 V, which can lead to a unstable operation.
  8. Check if the outputresolution of the source is compatible with  DaisyNET (see in the DaisyNET-manual)
  9. If ONLY DisplayPort sources are not working with DaisyNET: Please make sure thet your DisplayPort-Sources are supporting the „Dualen Modus“, which DaisyNET requires. Many notebooks have issues with it.
  10. Please make sure that you are only using high quality signal cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA), e.q. from Gefen. The maximum length should not exceed 10 m.
  11. If you have updated the Firmware and accidentialy mixed TX and RX. Then no more transmission is possible and the devices need to be send to our service for repair.

How do I get the Firmware version ?

The firmware version is only visible while booting on the serial interface. Connect a terminal programm of your choice to the serial interface with the following communication parameters:

  • straight cable
  • 9600 baud
  • 8N1

Power cycle the device and watch the display.

How to connect a control system?

The control system must be connected to the serial interface of the first transmitter in the DaisyNET-chain. The first transmitter is always the device which is on the opposite side of the receiver in the chain. Control commands are only transmitted in one direction. If you are connecting the control system in the middle of the bus, only the devices between the control system and the reciever at the end can be controlled.

Which cable for HD-BaseT should I use?

We recomend using CAT6A-Kabel (e.q. Belden 10GX). Connection points must be certified for  10GBaseT communication. For further information please have a look to your HDBaseT-Expertwebinar, which takes care about this issue.

Which number to set on the DIP switch?

Receiver Standard auf 1

Transmitter auf 0

I have only image noise in the picture

Power off the receiver.
Change the DIP Switch from 1 to 0.

Can I change the EDID information on the VGA interface?

No. The EDID data can only be changed on the HDMI and Displayport.

Why can I not read the EDID?

You can only read the EDID, if the IR on the receiver is set. If you read the EDID you must specify from which RX you would like to read the EDID, even if there is only one connected.
