DaisyNET from COMM-TEC is a wired distribution system for
uncompressed high resolution AV signals on a dedicated bus.
It
handles HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort and VGA + Audio input signals, converts them to
HDMI if needed and sends them using CAT-5e/6 (AWG 23) cables over distances
up to 100m.
At the same time Ethernet data up to 100 Mbps is distributed over the same
cable.
The ingenuity of the system is that it works in a daisy chain topology. You
can add as many units as you need. Connection is done by using inexpensive
easy to install CAT-5E/6 (AWG 23) cables. Pushing a local “ShowMe” button
on any transmitter feeds its signal on the HDBaseT bus. At the end of the
bus we use a receiver device. It has an HDMI 1.4 output with HDCP and gives out
the AV signal that is on the bus. It is also possible to daisy chain the
receivers, they all will show the same signal.
DaisyNET also offers RS232 ports. They are used for firmware update and for
control purpose. Firmware update is done per unit, control is done on the
very first unit, controlling all others.
As soon as you connect one unit to a network, the whole system acts like a
network switch and offer 100 Mbps at each unit. It is obvious, that units
share the bandwidth.
No matter if you use DaisyNET as a desktop application or hide it and just
use the connectivity: DaisyNET can be utilized in a huge variety of vertical
market applications.
