The Apple* iPhone is omnipresent. It looks nice and you can do a
lot of things with it. Now it's able to do even more: control
your audio-, video- or presentation systems and
even your building easily, elegantly and securly with
CommandFusion. All you need for this is an iPhone or iPod
With common control systems, like AVIT, AMX* or

CommandFusion is a young, ambitious company from Australia. The company
realized soon the possibilities of the iPhone or the iPod Touch. They were one
of the first companies that offered a solution to control audio-, video- and
presentation and even buildings with Apple's* omnipresent
CommandFuions developed a software solution, that consists of

the iPhone / iPod Touch and can be downloaded from the

required to create user interfaces for the iViewer.
This all is only possible because Apple* also made a step forward
to standards and integrated WiFi into their hardware.
of CommandFusion is as sample as it's ingenious. When you finished
your user interface with the help of the guiDesigner, you then define
the address of the control system there (right bottom). To get the user
interface to your iPhone / iPod Touch you need to set the address of the PC with
the user interface (left bottom). When the iViewer starts now, it will
download the user interface right from your PC, that acts as a webserver for
that moment. Alternatively you can also use a webserver directly for the
Right after the start, the user interfaces on the device now
connects to the control system via WiFi and can, depending on the
programming, control all equipment. More information can be found here: iViewer with a control system.
Alternatively you can omit a control system and control devices with an
IP-interface directly. That means you can even use also IP-Bus Devices, e.g.
from Global Caché, that
contains of IR- or RS-232-interfaces.
The principle stays the same,
besides that you do not need to set a address of your control system. Instead of
that, the commands will be asigned directly to the single buttons etc. More
information can be found here: iViewer as Standalone.
The disadvantage of this solution is, that you can use
only one iPhone or iPod Touch to control. But if you use a centralized
control system (e.g. AVIT),
you can use in theory as many Apple* devices as you like.
that all live at the ISE 2009 in Amsterdam. But of course not everybody was
able to see it there, so you can do it right here. You might also take

This application will be installed on your iPhone
/ iPod Touch and can be downloaded for free at the Apple* AppStore
- just search for "iViewer". With that software, you
can display any user interface you like on your iPhone / iPod Touch.
There are now limitations on your creativity. Of course page
changes will be animated smoothly in Apple*-style, there you can also
chose from different effects, e.g. fading.
The iViewer run in
fullscreen mode in your iPhone / iPod Touch and even tells your control
system its current orientation. That means you can even react on a flip of
the device and e.g. switch a page parallel on your touch panel. The
iViewer is even able to display two completly different user interfaces in
horizontal and vertical orientation.
You will receive for each
action on your iPhone / iPod Touch automatically feedback from the
iViewer, so that means you do not need to poll with your control system.
For each press of button or release you will be immediately notified, of
course as well on sliders etc.
The guiDesigner is the actual tool that is
being used to create the user interface for the iViewer. The software is
completely for free and can be download from CommandFusion, right after a
